The professional courses
of Casa de Passagem result in an increase of
social inclusion of the young in low income
communities, precipitating a smooth entry to
the world of the work and activation of their
latent ability to generate income. The courses
are offered in accordance with the social demand,
in groups of 20 pupils.
All the courses have
a thematic nucleus that reoccurs: professional
development, reading stimulus, writing, and
logical reasoning. These core proficiencies
were concieved in order to provide a stronger
supplemental curriculum to the attendees. It
is apparent that the most common deficiencies
come in the areas of mathematics, as well as
in writing and speaking Portuguese fluently.
The multidisciplinary
team develops many courses throughout the year
in the Initiation to the Work program.
Comic
Relief/Christian Aid, the Wal-Mart Institute,
The State Government of Pernambuco, Arc Network,
Farmácia Roval and Refresco Guararapes
are the primary financers of these professional
courses.
Around
400 youth are enabled, each year, by the courses
CP offers.
